Interview: Myles and Mark Detroit's WRIF 101.1 FM

Via: blabbermouth.net

Meltdown of Detroit, Michigan's WRIF 101.1 FM radio station recently conducted an interview with Mark Tremonti and Myles Kennedy of ALTER BRIDGE. You can now listen to the chat using the audio player below.

ALTER BRIDGE celebrated its 10th anniversary on January 6 with the release of "Alter Bridge X", a massive, 27-disc box set that was limited to just 3,000 copies worldwide. The set includes all four ALTER BRIDGE studio albums, along with DVD, Blu-ray, and vinyl audio copies of "Live From Amsterdam" and "Live At Wembley", including a 3D version of the latter. Also in the box was every webisode to date, hours of unreleased interviews and documentary footage, a coffee table book, a signed poster, and much more.

The complete set contains 16 DVDs/Blu-rays, seven CDs and four vinyl discs.

The hardcover coffee table book contains more than 100 pages of exclusive photos spanning the group's decade-long career.

The 3,000 copies were split between 1,500 for Europe, 1,000 for the U.S. and 500 for the rest of the world.

ALTER BRIDGE recently completed a headlining tour of Europe in support of its latest album, "Fortress", which featured the Active Rock Top 15 single "Addicted To Pain".

ALTER BRIDGE was started by the three instrumental members of CREED and guitarist Mark Tremonti told The Pulse Of Radio how ex-MAYFIELD FOUR singer Myles Kennedy became the final piece of the puzzle. "When we first started the band, we were desperately looking for a singer, and my buddy had brought me a MAYFIELD FOUR CD and, you know, hearing the CD, I was blown away — this guy's, you know, not doing anything right now and he's this good?" he said. "I made demos and sent 'em his way, and he sang over them and he seemed to be into the songs and we loved what he did and he flew down January 2, 2004, and we've been a band ever since."

Myles Kennedy & Mark Tremonti perform three Alter Bridge songs, discuss latest album "Fortress," and more.

Alter Bridge singer/guitarist Myles Kennedy and guitarist Mark Tremonti visited Billboard's studio to discuss the making of the band's latest album, "Fortress," and how the band's sound has evolved during the past decade.

The pair also gave an exclusive acoustic performance of "Addicted to Pain" and "Rise Today" (from second album "Blackbird"). By special request, Kennedy also performed "Watch Over You," another "Blackbird" single that became an unofficial anthem to the second season of "Celebrity Rehab."

It's been 10 years since Alter Bridge made its debut with the album "One Day Remains." The foursome has forged a path to touring, sales and chart success at a not-quite-slow but definitely steady pace, and that route is paying off yet again with "Addicted to Pain," the lead single from 2013's "Fortress." Though it was released last August, the track has been climbing Billboard's Rock Airplay chart, moving from No. 29 to No. 22 this week.

Oh to be a fly on the wall when Slash, Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators get together to lay down new music. Well now you can be, as the guitar great and his band are teaming with the Ernie Ball company to provide fans with a new online series titled ‘Real to Reel With Slash.’
The series takes viewers inside the studio as the band lays down the music for their next album, with Myles Kennedy, Todd Kerns and Brent Fitz offering insights into the recording of the new album along with Slash. The band has been splitting their time between NRG Studios in Los Angeles and Studio Barbarossa in Florida as they write, play, create and record their new album.
The first episode, which just went live, has Fitz primarily providing the narrative. The clip, which finds the drummer discussing the band’s approach to recording the new album, can be seen above. A new episode will appear weekly, giving viewers up-to-date and virtually real-time progress reports as the recording journey continues.
“I love the process of recording live in the studio and the sound of a rock ‘n’ roll band recorded on 2-inch tape as opposed to digital,” says Slash. “I thought it would be cool to show some footage of us doing exactly that.” Slash and his band are currently working on the follow-up to the successful ‘Apocalyptic Love’ album. For future ‘Real to Reel’ episodes, be sure to stay tuned to Slash’s website. Read More
